Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Center For Economic Policy And Development Studies

Dr. Lohia was a socialist leader of a fearless and dynamic personality. Even before independence and in free India he went to prison several times for the sake of the people. A man of rare scholarship and independent thought, he toiled to create a society which would ensure justice to the poor, the backward and women. Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya, is establishing a Centre called "Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Centre for Economic Policy and Development Studies". The aim of center is to understand Dr. Lohia's idea through economic philosophy and emancipator movements as well as to study the relevance of inclusive development. To undertake research in areas related to the freedom of oppressed people through various ways, policies and programmes, abolition of unsociability practice, discrimination, distribution of surplus land and enactment of legislations etc., and the movement as well as their impact on economically backward people. Further, the centre will undertake research to know the impact of constitution of India on the life of people, especially in the areas of economic democracy and social justice. This coordinator of this program is Dr. Surendra Mishra, Associate Professor in the Department of Adult and Continuing Education.
