The Program was established in the year 2005 for post graduate studies in Biotechnology and three year B.Sc. course in Biotechnology from session 2021-2022 under the self-finance scheme. The Program attracts students from all over the country. The program has two year full time course of M.Sc. Biotechnology with an intake of thirty students. From the date of beginning, the program has been making full efforts to make the students well trained and upto the mark. So far, 19 batches of M.Sc. Biotechnology and 02 batches of B.Sc. Biotechnology in combination with Zoology and Botany have been passed out. In addition to the core faculty, teachers from other related programs and scientists from various National Institutes/Universities are also invited for expert lectures. This support has been an asset to maintain the quality of the B.Sc. and M.Sc. teaching programme. Students who have passed so far have been absorbed/engaged in regular services and/or research activities in various reputed institutions like IITR, CDRI, JNU, NII, ICGEB, NBRI, CIMAP, pharmaceuticals companies and medical colleges along with institutions abroad. The program has well equipped laboratories with sophisticated instruments like, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, electrophoresis system, PCR, high speed cooling centrifuge, laminar air flow, autoclave, BOD incubator, orbital shaker incubator, deep freezer, transilluminator, etc. The vision of the Biotechnology Programme is to establish a progressive center of talent for the Biotechnology Profession by synergizing the fundamental knowledge, skills, expertise and technologies to drive the transformation of the biotechnological system in the present era.
